All Whites

With the Wimbledon Championship starting today white is back in centre thought (sorry terrible pun, just couldn’t resist as it rhymes with court!)

Tennis whites at Wimbledon reportedly date back to the 1800s.  When the tournament launched in 1877, and in this Victorian era, it was believed white would be the ideal colour for players to wear.  White clothing would prevent or minimise sweat stains visible on the players clothes, and be ‘cooling’, it was thought.  Today this tough dress code is one of the strictest on the tennis circuit.

But there is something lovely about seeing fresh whites.  A hotel bed, a white crisp shirt or a beautiful wedding dress.  The same applies for the garden whether that is a white wall, garden furniture, planters, sheds or summerhouses.  On a bright day the light bounces off white making whatever is painted ‘pop’ and almost glow.  White makes it feel like summer has really arrived.

With lots of whites and pale creams to choose from you can pick the perfect shade.
